INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DEMOCRACY
Youth organization observed INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DEMOCRACY in Indira colony typical slum of Jalandhar where more than 3000 residents making their both ends meet in very hard conditions. Although few efforts have been made, but even than life is challenge there. Prof. Lakhbir Singh president PAHAL told that there is only one very rough approach road, without any exit even in emergency. While referring to Indian population he added With a population of well over one billion people, India is the second most populous country in the world. It is home to 170 million slum dwellers: 63% of all slum dwellers in South Asia and 17% of the world's slum dwellers.

Living in slums or dwellings on pavements alongside busy roads, many of these people contend daily with the difficulties of not having access to water and sanitation. Without safe and secure housing and legal rights to their land, many also face threats of eviction and are excluded from achieving their political, social and economic rights. Living in a slum impacts greatly on health and education. Today prof. Singh made efforts for the capacity building of teens going to different government and private schools. Mrs Harvinder Kaur Principal Nirmaan School motivated the young girls to take care of health and education for the better personal and professional developments. She added that health & hygiene is big challenge in these environmental conditions. PAHAL heads promised the teen boys and girls for their help in holistic development. Mr Ajay, Ms Kirna and Mr Babloo made the basic arrangements' for the presentation on establishment of democratic conditions over there. There were Manu, Maya, Sanju, , Deepu, Mamta , along with 35 teen boys and girls. All present promised to get their voter right to make use of democratic rights at the age of 18 years.
